ITI awarded patent on high visibility, flame and arc resistant fabrics

28 July 2009, High Point, NC - Innovative Textiles Inc. (ITI) has announced that it has been issued a patent (Patent No.7,553,782 ) on its ANSI 107 / ASTM 1506 complaint Reliant fabrics. ITI is a leading manufacturer of FR and arc repellant fabrics serving the electrical, fire, and safety apparel market place.

Reliant HiVz flame (FR) and arc resistant Reliant fabrics meet the FR requirements of ASTM 1506, as well as the stringent high visibility standards of ANSI 107-2004. Michael Byles of ITI stated, “We are very pleased to have been granted this patent. Our product development efforts and timing of our HiVz fabric has been instrumental in meeting the recent requirements of the of the federal regulation 23 CFR 634.”

23 CFR 634 mandates that anyone working in the right-of-way of a federal-aid highway must be wearing high-visibility clothing that meets the requirements of ANSI / ISEA 107; 2004 edition with an arc level class of 1 or 2.

Reliant HiVz knits are engineered to combine the protection from electric arc hazards and direct flame with enhanced daylight visibility. John Wasylyk of ITI added, “We have had a tremendous response to the Reliant HiVz. End wearer response has been exceptional, based on the weight, performance and superior comfort. It is not stiff at all and wearers feel like they are wearing a regular Tshirt, knowing they are protected on the job.”

Reliant fabrics also conform to NFPA 70E levels 1 and 2.

Innovative Textiles Inc., is a leader in flame and arc resistant fabrics serving leading manufacturers of protective apparel who service markets such as NFPA Firefighter Station Wear, Electrical Utility, Petro-Chemical and General Industrial.
