Porsche Design uses coldblack in latest collection
3 February 2010, Sevelen – Switzerland’s Schoeller
Technologies AG reports that its coldblack technology is now being used in the
latest Porsche Design Sport Collection for men. Coldblack is a finish which can
be applied to fabrics to actively reduce the absorption of the sun’s rays and
offers reliable protection from damaging UV rays.
According to Schoeller Technologies, the Porsche Design
Sport Collection began with a cooperation between Adidas and Porsche Design
seven years ago and with the 2010 Spring/Summer Collection, the two companies are
demonstrating just how well modern functionality, high technology and distinctive
design combine.
The current Porsche Design Sport Collection consists of functional
clothing, shoes and accessories for men, for use in such activities as driving,
golf, running, fitness, tennis and water and snow sports. Schoeller
technologies says it is easy to see and feel the blend of exclusive materials,
performance enhancing details, and skilled workmanship in each item, some of
which use coldblack.
“With the Porsche
Design Sport Collection, our coldblack technology is once again reaching new
target groups and markets”, says a delighted Hans U. Kohn, COO Schoeller
Technologies AG. “The interior climate management in direct sunshine and the
high level of sun protection are particularly welcome in the sport and leisure
area, as dark shades always look elegant and timeless and are popular
regardless of the season.”
According to Schoeller Technologies, coldblack permits efficient
heat management and a high level of protection from UV rays (minimum UPF 30)
are achieved across the entire colour spectrum.
The current Porsche Design Sport Spring/Summer Collection is
available in selected high-end boutiques, in Adidas Sport Performance Concept
Stores and in Porsche Design Stores worldwide since January 2010. Coldblack
adheres to the bluesign standard, a stringent EHS (environment, health, safety)
standard for textiles. Among other awards, coldblack finishing technology has
received the American Popular Science Award and the Swiss Design Prize.
