Heimbach Filtration closes Suzhou, China site

16 February 2009, Duren – Heimbach Filtration has announced it will close its Suzhou, China filtration facility due to poor market demand for its products. The company says that the market situation for filtration products has worsened enduringly in China due to the economic crisis.

Heimbach says that in addition, fierce price competition in Asia, especially in China, makes the business with filter media more and more unattractive. For this reason Heimbach Filtration decided to give up its activities in China and will close down the production site Heimbach Filtration (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. The production of paper machine clothing at the same site will not be affected by this decision.

This step will give additional resources for the Filtration Division to focus on its core markets in Europe, as well as the well-developed markets of its subsidiary Filt-Man S.A. in Latin America. The company says that to reach its targets it will continue to invest in employees and equipment.
