Nylstar invests to increase production capacity

Nylstar, one of the leading suppliers of nylon 6.6, known for its Meryl yarns brand, has announced it will investment more than Euro 1.2 million to enable it to significantly increase its annual production capacity from 15,000 to 17,000 tons.

Nylstar, one of the leading suppliers of nylon 6.6, known for its Meryl yarns brand, has announced it will investment more than Euro 1.2 million to enable it to significantly increase its annual production capacity from 15,000 to 17,000 tons.

The investment comprises the installation of 21 Barmag winding machines that will increase productivity and help reduce waste considerably, the company reports. The investment will allow the Spanish producer to expand its product range and show its commitment to deliver even more value-added products. The new equipment will be installed in January 2014 and will be put into operation immediately.

 “This investment is a direct consequence of the growing demand of fine count yarns that has been reflected in our sales recently,” stated Zigor Kortazar, Nylstar’s Corporate General Manager. “We aim to operate this new installation as a matter to continually improve our service to our worldwide customer base,” Mr. Kortazar added.

Nylstar announced the appointment of Zigor Kortazar as Corporate General Manager in July this year with the promise to double its turnover in the next 5 years.

With challenging conditions both in the textile industry and in the market, Nylstar has been able to increase 10% YTD its sales volume as the result of its focus on innovation and customer service. 2014 awaits a year of further investments for Nylstar and for its principal brand, Meryl, the company says.

Sport Tech Couture

Presenting its Autumn/Winter 2014-2015 Trend Forecast at the Expofil 2013 trade fair for yarns and fibres in Paris in September, the company showcased a fashion collection under the concept ‘Sport Tech Couture’ by Spanish designer Mónica Lavandera. “With Sport Tech Couture, Nylstar proposes a new concept of fashion that suits contemporary lifestyle,” commented Zigor Kortazar at the time.

“The company’s wide variety of Meryl yarns and brands such as Nylgold, Skinlife or Nexten, perfectly adapt to the idea of comfortable fashion, beautiful, with the ability to cope with our daily activity without giving up a genuine style, different and exclusive.”
