Filtration 2014 conference that is set to take place from 18-20 November at the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, MD, will focus on various areas of application, including farm facilities.
According to INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, these facilities use a lot of filters and pre-filters making it a prime opportunity for the filter media industry, the association reports.
Montserrat Torremorell, DVM, PhD, Associate Professor, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Minnesota, will outline the latest and amazing opportunities in her not-to-be-missed presentation Use of Air Filtration Systems to Reduce Risk of Swine Viruses.
Reduction of viral infections
Research has validated the capability of air filtration systems to prevent the introduction of viruses into swine farms and reduce production losses, specifically those associated to porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) virus.
Air filtration is being adapted by many producers in the Midwest and as more pork producers begin to retrofit existing structures to accommodate air filtration, the opportunity for filter manufacturers will only grow, INDA believes.
Ongoing work regarding cost-benefit of air filtration in swine farms, reduction of introduced viral infections, standards of filter testing for PRRS, particle size that viruses associate with, as well as opportunities and challenges of air filtration in livestock production will be discussed.
Recognition
“The INDA Filtration Conference and Exhibition is the premier networking show for the industry. Decision making resources from all facets of the supply chain are in attendance including raw materials and equipment to filter distributors and end users,” commented Mike Disotelle, Segment VP, PGI.
“The event has been a great way for us to make contact and have meetings with our suppliers, partners, and customers. It is also a great place to introduce new products and business innovations.”
