SKAPS acquires Matrix Composites

Geotextiles manufacturer SKAPS Industries is acquiring Henderson, Kentucky-based Matrix Composites. Matrix Composites manufactures woven glass fabrics and nonwovens at two US plants, in Henderson and Seguin, Texas.

SKAPS Industries, based in Athens, Georgia, has expanded significantly over the past twenty years. Initialy a manufacturer of geonets, it established a nonwoven needlepunch plant in Pendergrass, Georgia in 2003. Two years later, it started-up an India weaving plant in Moraiya, and a second in Mundra in 2007.

A polypropylene staple fibre plant and a needlepunched line were established at the Mundra plant in 2012. In 2016, the Mundra site diversified into glass fibres for composites with the installation of two multiaxial knitting lines.

SKAPS also has a joint venture for geosynthetics in Brazil.
