Arville’s commitment to investing in people at all levels within the business was recently in the spotlight, as an apprentice staff member was presented with a certificate at a prestigious ceremony. Thomas Williamson was named Technical Certificate Learner of the Year at the 41st Huddersfield Textile Centre of Excellence annual awards.

Almost 200 guests at the event heard from Martin Jenkin, Textile Centre spokesman, that the number of apprenticeships offered by West Yorkshire firms in the textiles sector was rising – evidence that employers such as Arville are firmly committed to invest in training, despite the introduction of the apprenticeship levy.

The company achieves an enviably low level of staff turnover, retaining essential expertise, knowledge and experience, as well as creating a sense of belonging, with some workers having served more than 40 years.

“We’ve been manufacturing technical textiles for over 60 years and have built our success on investing in young talent like Thomas and supporting his professional development as essential to the way we do business,” said Andy Smith, Group Head of Marketing at Arville.

“Thomas is just one of many examples of staff members to excel with the right training and development and we are delighted that he has been recognised in this way. Our people truly are our greatest asset, so we are constantly revising and improving our approach to benefit everyone who works here.”

Employees of Arville are highly-skilled professionals who are able to devise and deliver bespoke fabric solutions for customers’ specialist needs in some of the world’s most intensive industries, the company reports. More than 70 people received recognition and certificates at the ceremony.
