This step is expected to lead to optimisation of the resources and synergies between the various fields of activity, the group reports.

The company has also announced changes to the top management of the company. Toshio Takanashi is to become Primary Executive Officer of Asahi Kasei Corporation and will also continue to cover his present duties in the Fibers & Textiles SBU. Masanori Yagami will become manager of the Cupro division.

Activities and expertise

Asahi Kasei Fibers is a group with a EUR 15.3 billion turnover and more than 30 thousand employees throughout the world. It engages in the manufacture and supply of nonwoven products in Japan, Asia, and Europe.

Asahi Kasei Chemicals manufactures petrochemicals, polymers, performance chemicals, and consumables. The company offers petrochemicals, such as inorganic chemicals, monomers, PMMA, polyethylene, and other products.

Asahi Kasei E-Materials Corporation produces and markets battery separators, photo-mask pellicles, plastic optical fibre, display materials, epoxy resin, photo-resist, and other electronic materials.

Italian headquarters

The news comes along with the inauguration of the new Italian offices in Gallarate, Italy. According to Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia, this is an important investment into better performance and improved results in the Italian market.

Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia ended 2015 with earnings of about EU 58.6 million, which is a 19% increase, compared to 2014. The growth was achieved thanks, among other things, to the take-up in sales of the Cupro cellulose fibre, the company reports.

Cupro is a unique refined fibre made from nature’s cellulosic waste materials and transformed into an exquisite material, the company reports. Gentle and soft, it is also said to deliver its slick, seductive and super-refined message through the wearer’s experience.

Asahi Kasei Group

Asahi Kasei is a diversified Japan based manufacturer of fibres and chemicals. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the Asahi Kasei Group achieved growth mainly in the fibres business. In the 1960s and 1970s, the company began expanding operations in the fields of petrochemicals, construction materials, and homes.

It then further diversified its business portfolio by advancing into the fields of health care and electronics, establishing a unique position as a highly diversified chemical manufacturer.

Today, the company continues to provide new value for society as it accelerates the expansion of its businesses, while creating new businesses in the fields of the environment and energy, residential living, and health care.
