European retailer C&A and material sciences company Recover are joining forces in a new strategic four-year partnership to bring high-quality recycled cotton to everyday garments.

The strong commitment of the two companies to circularity will be visible this spring with the first collection made with Recover fibre due to hit stores in April, in C&A’s Clockhouse range.

C&A and Recover have decades of experience within their respective fields and a long track record in achieving greater circularity. The partnership is driving change to place recycled cotton as the core ingredient of a more sustainable fashion industry, using Recover, with its extensive expertise and scaling capacities, as the main cotton source.

Recover will integrate its fibre into C&A’s supply chain structure, as well as provide tech support to help the spinners and weavers optimise the yarns and fabrics.

The partnership with Recover confirms C&A – which recently opened its Factory for Innovation in Textiles in Monchengladbach, Germany – as a player taking sustainability seriously.

“More sustainable fashion must not be a niche product,” said Aleix Busquets Gonzalez, director of global sustainability at C&A. “Our collaboration with Recover is a milestone on our way towards a more sustainable future characterised by quality fashion available at affordable prices.”

Together the partners aim to develop a strong and scalable circular ecosystem in Europe based on post-consumer materials.

Recover, headquartered in Banyeres de Mariola, Spain, is a global producer of low-impact, high-quality recycled cotton fibre and cotton fibre blends. Its premium cost-competitive products are created in partnership with the supply chain for global retailers and brands.

With over 1,400 stores in 18 European countries and more than 25,000 employees, C&A, headquartered in Dusseldorf, is one of Europe’s leading fashion retailers. Every day, it welcomes around two million visitors to its stores across Europe.
