The Textile Institute (TI) together with its partner the Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia, has announced that registration for the 2012 World Conference is now open.

The conference will provide an opportunity for participants to travel to the tropical equator line to experience Malaysian society and observe the country as it moves towards building a high income society for 2020.

“Malaysia is a country of contrasts. From its towering skyscrapers to its traditional wooden huts built on stilts - it amazes at every turn. Recent years have seen Malaysia become a Mecca for design,” TI Director of Operations and Membership, Stephanie Dick commented.

“We are really pleased to be able to provide details regarding this year’s World Conference. Eclectic cultures and natural wonders signify that Malaysia will be an exciting venue for the 88th Textile Institute World Conference. Its commitment to the creative industries and innovation mean a perfect fit with the Institute’s own philosophy of bringing together diverse textile areas to exchange ideas.”

Connecting research and innovation

Developments of textile materials, equipment and processes have extensively impacted the textile industry worldwide. While conventional textiles present consistent growth in emerging economies, a movement into medical, sports, aerospace, automotive and geotextile applications (non-conventional markets) included within technical textiles and composites, with value-added elements has seen the industry change drastically.

With these changes, The Textile Institute World Conference 2012 will specifically focus on developing methodology for connecting research and innovation with emphasis on establishing enterprising spirit among its members and the textile community in general.

The organisers, The Textile Institute together with the Universiti Teknologi MARA, would like to invite local and international participants to attend the conference.
