Monforts, a leading textile machinery manufacturer, will display its Montex Allround modular coating head for the first time in the Americas at Febratex’14 exhibition in Blumeneau, Brazil, following its debut at ITMA ASIA that took place last month.

Monforts, together with its local representative, Eurotexteis, will be participating at the Febratex’14 exhibition that will be held in Blumeneau, Brazil, from 12-15 August.

Highlights

Monforts technologists will present the latest developments for finishing classical textiles (woven and knits) with special emphasis on Eco Applicator, a moisture applicator for economic terry towel finishing.

The company will also focus on its Monfortex compressive shrinking range for denim finishing with the lowest residual shrinking factor, the Montex 8000  stenter with integrated heat recovery, and special ranges for technical textiles including the latest innovation, the Montex Allround modular coating head.

New coating system

A modular approach for an industry of extremes, the new Monforts Montex Allround has been designed for technical textiles. Technical textiles are extremely diverse in their end-use applications and manufacturers can be called upon to quickly produce a succession of materials with widely differing properties – often within a single shift, the company reports.

These can range from carbon fabrics for today’s high-performance composites, to filter media which must perform in extreme temperatures. Then there are the heavy duty membranes which are employed in the collection and storage of methane in biogas plants, as well as materials equipped with sensors and electrical conductors which are now used as base liners in DSC solar cells.

According to the manufacturer, these very different materials, however, have one thing in common – they all require expert finishing for maximum efficiency.

New solution

In order to provide the flexibility in processing technology as response to the demand of such wide-ranging production, Monforts has developed the new Montex Allround, a modular, interchangeable coating system for technical textiles.

The product is said to offer considerable benefits to manufacturers of coated technical textiles , especially with regards to its flexibility.

Properties

The modular coating heads of the system can be quickly changed by a specially-designed undercarriage from the side of the unit, allowing it to be adapted for different applications.

There are modules for knife and slot die coating, in addition to those suitable for flexure, gravure and rotary-screen printing. Special modules for powder scattering and spraying are also available.

The unit can be enclosed with a special casing when the handling of fabrics treated with organic, or even toxic solvents is taking place.

Less contamination

The Montex Allround, which consists of a spreading unit and a pulling device along with the selected coating head, allows for the tension-free coating of the substrate along a greatly-reduced web path and a very short period of ‘open’ coating prior to it entering the dryer, ensuring significantly less chance of contamination, according to the company.

The shortest possible distance between the coating head and the stenter infeed ensures the highest quality coating results.
