MT Cross Race Suit from SkinfitCompetitive ski mountaineering has a long tradition in the Alpine region. The thrill of tackling rocks and ice is said to be attracting more and more followers and the extreme conditions on high-altitude terrain present enormous challenges for both humans and equipment.

With the MT Cross Race Suit, Skinfit – an Austrian clothing company for aerobic sports– brings its competition-tested triathlon know-how to bear on mountain sports. The suit is finished off with coldblack, the twofold sun protection for year-round use.

Nothing should diminish the pleasure of exercising – this is the Skinfit creed. The dynamic company from the Vorarlberg region has made a strong name for itself, primarily in the triathlon area. The practical experience of these high performance athletes and the detailed product knowhow now flow seamlessly into the Skinfit Winter Collection.

“It is not that easy to develop a really good garment that can contend with both tough ascents and the wind-chill factor on downhill runs. But competition suits for ski mountaineers have to meet both criteria in full,” is how Dominik Hartmann, Marketing Director at Skinfit explains the background to the development. For the MT Cross Race Suit, Skinfit selected a thin, highly-elastic material with excellent wind protection and extremely high breathability. The placement of pockets, slits and zips ensued following the advice of professionals. In order to actively support the athletes’ moisture management during the ascent, the light suit is combined with matching functional underwear from Skinfit. In addition, the MT Cross Race Suit is equipped with coldblack.

Dominik Hartmann continues: “The effect of sunlight can be very intensive in the mountains and in snow, even in winter, and really heats up untreated dark apparel. As a rule, the competitor’s performance capacity is seriously diminished because his body has to balance out the higher temperature. We wanted to incorporate our very good triathlon experience in this area too.” Apparel with coldblack prevents the body and the clothes heating up and guarantees a UPF of at least 30.
