PBI NRG LP fabric for protective clothing from PBI Performance Products, of Charlotte, North Carolina, pairs the Agile weave structure developed by UK-based Hainsworth with PBI LP advanced fibre.

The flame-retardant, water-repelling fabric is woven in a flexible twill structure that is said to move with the wearer. It weighs only 190gsm, placing less strain on the body, reducing the risk of heat stress and helping the wearer perform better, for longer.

PBI LP fibre has a break-open point of 815°C and a decomposition temperature of  around 850°C. In developing PBI NRG LP, PBI LP fibre has been combined with para-aramid fibres in a tightly-packed construction that offers even more thermal stability and break-open resistance.

It is woven in a tight ‘gabardine’ twill inspired by classic raincoats and the fibres are packed into the face of the fabric to enhance liquid run-off, protecting the wearer from exposure to harmful chemicals and carcinogens.

Despite its low weight, PBI NRG LP is supremely durable and can withstand a high number of wash cycles without losing any of its protective qualities. It also has excellent abrasion resistance and colour fastness.

PBI Performance Products is wholly owned by the InterTech Group, located in North Charleston, South Carolina.
