Sigmatex, a world leader in carbon fibre textile manufacture makes another major step forward by installing new, revolutionary machine technology for the manufacture on Non Crimp, Multiaxial Carbon Fibre Fabrics.
A new LIBA Copcentra MAX 5 Universal machine (MAX 5U), the very first of its kind worldwide, is being installed at the Sigmatex (UK) Ltd, Runcorn facility in Cheshire, England. The Copcentra MAX 5U is the latest technology to be offered from LIBA Maschinenfabrik GmbH of Germany, it offers advanced fibre spreading techniques, increased speed of fibre deposition, adjustable laying heads for the angles and above all has the capability to manufacture fabrics at variable widths. From its maximum width of 2,540mm (101”) it can produce multiaxial fabrics down to 1,270mm (50”) making this the lead machine of its kind.
Mr Scott Murray, Sigmatex Technical Manager commented, “the investment in this cutting edge technology continues to place Sigmatex at the forefront of innovation within the carbon fibre textile manufacturing market and will help provide its current and future customer base with increased production capacities, wider product offerings and cost effective solutions from the world’s largest independent converter of carbon fibre”.
In addition to the new Copcentra MAX 5U technology, Sigmatex has additional Liba multiaxial machines within its manufacturing portfolio, both Copcentra MAX 3 and Copcentra MAX 5 machines operate at its UK and Benicia, California, US facilities. The MAX 5U presents a major evolution in technology from the current machines held by Sigmatex. Through its flexibility and new advancements in technology it offers many benefits in the design, manufacture and architecture of carbon fibre multiaxial fabrics.
