The Network Group for Composites in Construction (NGCC) is to host an ‘Open Forum’ session at the Composites Engineering Show that will take place from 12 – 13 November at the NEC, Birmingham, showcasing innovations in fibre-reinforced-polymer composites (FRPs) in construction.
Composites
Composites materials are viable components in so many development programmes across the industrial sector and now the use of FRPs for construction purposes are progressively becoming a considered choice in the material selection process.
From bridge decks to large span unsupported roof panels, revolutionary methods and processes are made possible by the unique qualities of this growing area of materials engineering.
Forum for discussion
NGCC is the first group to formally bring together the FRP composites and construction industries. It aims to encourage the effective use of FRP composites in construction, improve partnering and collaboration between companies and raise the profile as an industry as a whole.
The organisation acts as a forum for members to discuss issues within the industry and helps to find solutions.
Open forum session
Composites Engineering 2013, part of the Advanced Engineering UK group of events, will include an NGCC-hosted open forum session, on the second day of the show, for the composites in construction sector.
Featuring contributions from the likes of Fiberline A/S, Gurit UK and Ecos Maclean, this special one hour session will cover such themes as bridges with decks of glass fibre reinforced polymers, a case study on the Haramain Railway Station roof and Space-Link - a feasibility study into novel applications for pultrusions.
