Para aramid paper composite material is a kind of composite material with high strength, high modulus, high impact and temperature resistance. At the moment, the high-grade aramid paper products are almost entirely dependent on imports in China, our correspondent Oliver Haiqing Hua reports.

Shaanxi University of Science & Technology (SUST) research group has developed a series of key technology and the related theory of fibre treatment, dispersion, paper making, and hot pressing. The team has also built a complete para aramid paper base composite material demonstration production line.

Excellent mechanical properties

The research group used the para aramid precipitation fibres as raw material in order to successfully implement the preparation of the high performance novel para aramid paper based material.

This material has excellent uniformity, good tightness, beautiful dielectric properties, and great thermal stability. The mechanical strength of this material has been greatly improved so it can meet the domestic high-end applications demand.

This development has changed the monopoly situation and allowed to develop a series of para aramid paper base composite products with Chinese independent intellectual property owners, which is seen as economically and socially beneficial for the country.

Innovation

The application fields of these materials include floor, wall, doors, flaps, ailerons, damping plate, airframe, engine cabin, cockpit, cargo cabinet, horizontal tail, wing leading edge, and more.
