Formax, the manufacturer of carbon fibre and speciality composite reinforcements, will be showcasing its ability to develop innovative solutions for challenging composite applications through a series of one-to-one consultations with its engineering team at JEC World 2016.
Hexcel acquired Formax in January 2016 and the company name will soon be changing to Hexcel Reinforcements UK Ltd.
Formax invites all JEC visitors with a reinforcement challenge to discuss their problem with the team of technical experts who will take a fresh look at the issue and offer advice on potential solutions. The NCF (Non-Crimp Fabric) Reinforcement Clinics will be offered throughout the show that takes place in Paris next month.
Innovation Centre
Formax works closely with companies in the marine, wind energy, sports and industrial markets to develop custom multiaxial reinforcements optimised for their demanding composites applications.
At its Leicester, UK based Innovation Centre, Formax advises and supports customers throughout their product development processes. Recent additions to the Innovation Centre, which opened in September 2015, include process simulation tools, fabric permeability testing equipment and automation technology.
Hexcel’s expertise
JEC visitors are also invited to the main Hexcel stand, where the focus will be on Hexcel’s carbon fibre and composite materials for aerospace, automotive and wind energy.
Hexcel acquired full ownership of Formax on 5 January 2016, following the acquisition of a 50% interest in the privately-owned company in December 2014. The purchase of the remaining interest in Formax will allow Hexcel to further advance dry reinforcements technology for future aerospace applications and provide scale for growing industrial markets, the company reports.
