Italian textile machinery manufacturers to exhibit in Guangzhou

Italian machinery manufacturers will be presenting their most advanced technology for the production of technical textiles and nonwovens at the technology symposium on 10 October in Guangzhou, China, organised by ACIMIT - the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, and the ICE – the Italian Trade Promotion Agency. “The symposium to be held in Guangzhou aims to promote awareness among Chinese operators of the validity of Italian technology,” Raffaella Carabelli, President of ACIMIT. “In the province of Guandong, there are around 500 companies operating in the sector (above all nonwovens); this is an important market for our manufacturers”.

Growing demand

Technical textiles and nonwovens are a constantly growing sector for China’s textile industry, accounting for over 20% of manufacturing production, ACIMIT reports. Since the start of 2013, the sector’s value added growth has been the highest within the Chinese textile industry.

“Demand in China for technical textiles and nonwovens is growing rapidly,” commented Carabelli. “Investments in infrastructure, the filtration sector, as well as the medical and personal hygiene sectors are pushing Chinese demand for technical textiles and nonwovens for the coming years”.

Primary export destination

The symposium in Guangzhou will focus on sustainable textile technologies. “A clear signal of the attention we’re affording the Chinese market,” specified ACIMIT’s president. “Despite falling Italian sales (24% decrease over the first five months of the year), the Chinese market still represents the primary export destination for Italy’s textile machinery manufacturers (EUR 130 million for the first five months of the year, equal to 20% of Italian exports for the sector)”.

The Italian manufacturers that will be present in Guangzhou include Biancalani, Bianco, Cormatex, Dell’Orco & Villani, Itema, Loptex and Roj.

Italian machinery production

ACIMIT estimates that over one hundred Italian textile machinery manufacturers are active in producing machinery for the technical textiles and nonwovens sector (of these, about fifty produce machinery for nonwovens).

The Association believes that during the course of the symposium, Chinese operators will thus have an opportunity to become acquainted with the latest technology innovations for various specific phases of the production process. This is expected to help them find information on the ideal technology partner to provide them with the necessary solutions for their specific needs.

ACIMIT

ACIMIT is a private non-profit body and its main purpose is to promote the Italian textile machinery sector and in supporting its activity, mainly abroad.

In order to do that, ACIMIT provides information on the activity of the producers and organises a wide range of promotional activities, often in collaboration with ICE (Italian Trade Commission).

Another major aim of the association is to inform  its member companies about commercial, financial and technical problems in  different markets in order to facilitate market entry.
