The company was re-enacting real-life application examples from the process industries, the mechanical engineering sector, and manufacturing.

Olbo & Mehler Tex product range addresses the needs of a large variety of industries, from automotive, pharmaceuticals, safety and defence to mining, covering almost all technical applications, such as fabrics for coatings, ballistic and chemical protection, belts and membranes for automotive industry, hoses, handrails, and more.

Understanding technical textiles

Olbo & Mehler’s know-how to manage different kind of fibres (natural or polymer) and using different type of treatments, allow the company to develop products for different segments, such as the agricultural and the pharmaceutical.

Technological innovation in the field of polymers, fibres, fabrics and manufacturing processes are the factors that have the greatest impact on the growth of technical textiles, according to the manufacturer. Another important factor is the ability of these textile materials contribute to the resolution of problems in non-textile industries.

Through textile technology it is possible to combine different features in one product, such as flexibility or stiffness, low weight and resistance. This allows designing and developing fibres or extremely resistant fabrics with excellent fit and flexibility, the company reports.

Research and Development

Olbo & Mehler has been processing different type of fibres, either natural or polymer fibres, bringing forward the development of fabrics for special applications for niche markets. This innovative strength, according to the company, puts it in a very strong position to set the pace in international competition. At Techtextil Messe Frankfurt 2015 Olbo & Mehler will present solutions for some innovative applications for Basaltic fibres, for example.

“The positive business development in the past decades shows that Olbo & Mehler is on the right track – we are market leaders in many areas and it will continue to be so. Our products are in use worldwide and have been approved and tested in numerous technical applications,” commented Alberto Tavares, Olbo & Mehler CEO.

“Thanks to a structured innovation process and significant investments in cutting-edge technology and quality control, we can entirely fulfil the requirements of the international markets.”
