Eco fashion and design network C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity, Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy), has announced the commencement of its strategic partnership with NICE, the Nordic fashion industry educational project. The partnership will involve a series of joint activities which will lead to the common goal of increasing awareness and use of more responsible materials for everyday living.
To kick-off the collaboration, CLASS has been named as the official supplier of all eco-innovation materials and products for the Fashion Summit, organised by NICE, with a catwalk show and competition to be held in the Copenhagen Opera House on 9 December 2009. Supported by the Nordic Fashion Association NFA, the NICE project and Fashion Summit presentation coincides with the COP15 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
C.L.A.S.S. is a global network of three showrooms in Milan, London and New York, each supporting and promoting environmentally better products for fashion, home and design through a wide range of eco-textiles, yarns, processes, finished products and services. There is a comprehensive materials library in each showroom, available for businesses, designers and buyers. CLASS helps connect materials producers with fashion, lifestyle, interior designers and retailers, encouraging them to make more environmentally friendly choices.
Nordic Initiative, Clean & Ethical
NICE is a Nordic partnership initiative with the overall objective to lead the fashion industry towards a stronger focus on responsible, ethical, and sustainable fashion, with the main purpose being to motivate and assist fashion companies in integrating sustainability and social responsibility in their business processes and practices for the better of society.
NICE is an educational project and process created for and in collaboration with the Nordic fashion industry, and includes a number of projects and partners across the Nordic countries.
On 9th of December 2009, the Danish Fashion Institute is hosting the Fashion Summit at the Copenhagen Opera House in Denmark. The Fashion Summit will mark the starting point of the ongoing educational process of implementing sustainability and social responsibility in the fashion industry. The event for the global fashion and clothing industry is taking place concurrently with COP15 - the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
Fashion Summit is expected to attract up to 6000 participants from the fashion industry, as well as other creative industries, politicians, CSR experts, international media and celebrities supporting a sustainable and socially responsible fashion industry.
Fashion Summit will include speakers from the fashion industry, the CSR field, politicians and NGO’s as well as a panel discussion and debate on ‘what does a sustainable fashion industry look like and how do we get there?’ Additionally, a 10-year plan of action for the fashion industry as well as a joint Code of Conduct will be presented and in order to showcase new opportunities and variety within sustainable materials, a design competition for new generation designers is taking place in collaboration with CLASS.
