US based manufacturer Noble Biomaterials, a leading provider of antimicrobial and anti-odour technologies for performance fabrics, as well as for smart textiles applications, is experiencing a strong interest and demand in its X- STATIC technology for infection prevention.

The company reports that there has been an increase in importance of combating healthcare acquired infections (HAIs), which contributed to the growth. In the US, the product is also becoming more widely accepted and used by the company’s partners, such as ArcCom, Infinitude Clothing, Encompass, Core 61 and NMI Health.

Alternative to existing solutions

“The long-term lifespan of our products combined with the advantageous multifunctional properties have led to a significant increase in the brand awareness of X-STATIC in Germany, Italy, France and Great Britain,” said Stephan Winnen, Managing Director Europe at Noble Biomaterials since 2013.

“Due to the combination of antistatic and antimicrobial properties X-STATIC is a true alternative to existing solutions with carbon. Multiple clinical studies in the US have shown that by reducing bacteria on the textile surface, the risk of cross-contamination is considerably reduced. Soft textile surfaces in hospitals may be the missing link in breaking the chain of infection and an important step towards solving the problem. We are confident that the cost-benefit effect of XSTATIC will see a breakthrough in the healthcare area.”

See it SAFE textile fabrics

Niemöller & Abel is a leading German developer and producer of high-quality protective clothing. For more than eight years the company has been processing See it SAFE textile fabrics powered by X-STATIC.

The technology mainly finds applications in rescue services, police and security services, and also in the clinical sector. See it SAFE textile products are 98% continuous filament polyester fibre construction with 2% X-STATIC silver fibre. They are said to be lint free, which is a requirement of EN 13795 for reusable clothing and textile curtains, as well as reusable textiles in the surgery division.

“In the very beginning we had a hard time of persistent persuasion. In the meantime, however, my customers truly appreciate the assets of X-STATIC technology that has been incorporated into the calls for tender,” said Claas-Gerrit Niemöller, Managing Partner Niemöller & Abel. “Safety issues and protection against pathogenic germs will attain an increasing importance in our modern societies and at the end justify the higher procurement costs.”
