The trend that has significantly developed in the last few months, is expected to become one key-element for the textile industry in the near future, organisers report.
Starting with fabric presentations for fibre qualities, followed by the Opposites Attract –From the Gym to Cocktails presentation by Nilit, athleisure will take over the second day of the fair with a wide selection of presentations and talks dedicated to designers and product managers.
Materials and compositions
Fibres are one essential -maybe even the most important- element to describe the properties of a fabric besides knit/woven patterns and chemical treatments. Especially in athleisure, the different materials and compositions play a very important roll.
Dr. Walter Kampen, CEO of W. Kampen, will compare natural fibres such as cotton, merino wool, cashmere, angora and chemical fibres such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic, microfibers, and elasthan in his Functional Fibres for Athleisure presentation, which opens the second day of the fair.
Stretching the limits
Julian Schütz, Sales Manager Fibers Division of Nilit Fibers, will then take a look on the key textile trends and will reflect the role of Nylon in the field of Athleisure. Nora Kühner, Independent Fashion and Design Consultant, will explore sportification of the modern lifestylefrom different perspectives, whilst Sylvia Happel, Business Development Apparel of Lenzing, will give an overview of the properties of natural fibres like cotton and wool, man made cellulosic fibres like Tencel, and Modal with regard to athleisure trend.
Nora Kühner will hold her trend presentation on the wide possibilities of the fashion trend for the performance industry. Visitors will also get to know their natural materials with the midday-presentation as Sophie Bramel brings together suppliers of innovative textiles to discuss what fabrics are best suited to the versatile needs of crossover collections during a panel discussion.
The day will then lead into the sustainability dedicated topics of presentations, where recycled, synthetic yarns will be discussed.
