The Lycra Company will participate in three seminars at the upcoming Kingpins24 online tradeshow – a digital-only, denim supply chain event, taking place April 20-22.

Jean Hegedus, director of sustainable business solutions at the Lycra Company, will take part in the panel discussion, Advancing a Circular Economy, on Tuesday, 20 April at 8 am ET. This panel discussion, moderated by Roian Atwood, senior director of global sustainable business at Kontoor Brands, will also include representatives from Artistic Fabric Mills, Artistic Milliners and Vicunha.

Hegedus will also unveil The Lycra Company’s latest sustainable innovations in the Coolmax and Thermolite EcoMade family during her presentation, A Stepping Stone to Circularity – New Firers from 100% Textile Waste.  This session will debut on Earth Day, Thursday April 22 at 8:30 am ET.

“This textile waste technology is the first of a number of planned innovations from The Lycra Company aimed at advancing the circular economy,” said Hegedus. “As we all know, waste is a huge issue for our industry and our planet, and we need to work together to meet this challenge. We’re excited about taking this first step towards circularity.”

This is also an opportunity to learn more about fabric innovations that provide unique fit inclusion and “one size fit more” solutions for consumers during Consumer Sizing Solutions – The Science of Fit Advantage, taking place on Wednesday, April 21 at 8:40am ET.  This segment will be presented by Steve Stewart, chief innovation officer, and Ebru Ozaydin, strategic marketing director of denim and ready-to-wear.

“Lycra Freef!t technology is our patented and patent pending yarn and fabric innovation that delivers optimum stretch, recovery and retractive power to have a wider fit window,” said Stewart. “This technology is part of our The Science of Fit platform which encompasses a variety of our innovations in fibre, yarn, fabric and printable technologies to yield enhanced fit and comfort.”

Several mills participating at Kingpins24 are already offering fabrics with Freef!t technology, including Advance Denim, AGI Denim, Artistic Fabric Mills, Artistic Milliners, Calik Denim, DNM, Kipas Denim, Naveena Denim Mills, Orta, Prosperity Textile, Soorty and Vicunha.

Kingpins has transitioned its denim tradeshows to an online format during the Covid-19 pandemic. This edition of Kingpins24 will focus on denim innovation and technology via a combination of on-demand and livestreamed content, including product demonstrations, panel discussions, product updates and interviews. Kingpins24 is open to members of the denim industry. Registration details can be found here.
