Indorama Ventures marked 45 years of its leading Trevira CS contract fabrics brand at the recent Heimtextil exhibition in Frankfurt, with 17 partner companies displaying their latest materials.
Tevira CS was launched in 1980 as a pioneering flame retardant polyester fibre for textiles, with properties which neither wash out or are lost through ageing or use. Trevira CS fabrics meet all essential fire protection standards without the need for chemical finishing.
At Heimtextil 2025, sustainable developments were highlighted, including the increasing incorporation of pre-consumer recycled fibres and the Trevira CS take-back concept in cooperation with Altex Textil-Recycling. Trevira CS production from chemically recycled feedstocks is also being explored and the 2025 Trevira CS Fabric Competition encouraged participants to explore the interfaces between permanent flame retardancy, textile design, functionality and safety.
Indorama’s Breathair brand was also showcased – a 3D upholstery material specially developed for the upholstery industry which offers new possibilities for sustainable and comfortable furniture design. Stools were displayed demonstrating different variants in terms of height and compression hardness and Erpo Möbelwerk – a German ‘manufactory for seating culture’ based in Baden-Württemberg – presented two modern cubic armchairs featuring durable Breathair in the seat and back cushions for ergonomically comfortable seating.
In cooperation with Auping and TWE, Indorama Ventures and has further developed a mattress consisting of two basic components and incorporating Deja branded recycled and bio-based materials to allow for easier disassembly and more efficient recycling. The Deja product portfolio includes chips, as well as various staple fibres and filament yarns.
