Leading sailcloth producer Dimension-Polyant’s new RX fabric for bags and backpacks is the first product in the company’s X-Pac range to be verified climate neutral by ClimatePartner.

“We are very happy to introduce our first 100% climate neutral product and more will follow soon,” said MD Uwe Stein. “We are working with our raw material suppliers to gradually increase the proportion of  recycled and bio-based fibres without compromising on quality.”

X-Pac RX 3-layer laminates feature X-Ply fibre reinforcement technology – a three-layer construction that is rugged, flexible and 100% waterproof. A lighter-weight polyester film backing provides a sleek, technical appearance.

“The outer layer is made from locally-sourced recycled PET to align with the domestic  manufacture in our climate neutral facility to help minimise our environmental impact,” said Stein. “The feedback we’ve had from our brand partners for this has been great.”

The RX collection is offered in three qualities:

-RX15, a lightweight 150 denier face fabric for extremely lightweight backpacks and bags or as an inner lining for technical backpacks.

-RX30, a 300 denier face fabric that has the most balanced construction for outdoor performance or urban applications.

-RX36, a highly technical face fabric that combines the performance of a 300 denier fibre with the durability of a 600 denier fabric.

All climate-neutral products from Dimension-Polyant will carry the cleenTEC seal.

“We have to enable consumers to easily identify our sustainable materials,” said Stein. “All  cleenTEC labelled products are guaranteed to be 100% climate neutral and contain recycled or bio-based raw materials.”

Dimension-Polyant’s production facilities in Kempen, Germany and Putnam, USA, have been 100% climate neutral since the beginning of 2021. Carbon emissions have been  recorded within the framework of DIN ISO 50001 and significantly reduced through the use of green electricity, gas and other measures. All remaining emissions are being reduced by a carbon offset programme in cooperation with ClimatePartner and its Plastic Free Oceans climate protection project.
