The Invista-owned Cordura Advanced Fabrics brand is celebrating 55 years of continuous advancements that have helped shape the world of military, workwear and outdoor products and gear.
The 55th year of the ingredient brand has been a year for celebrating milestones in innovation and its portfolio now consists of over 15 different performance technologies, with over 2,500 certified Cordura fabrics available through a worldwide partner network.

“Since commercialisation of the fabric in 1967, the Cordura brand has worked hand-in-hand with its mill and supply chain partners to break moulds and blaze new trails,” says Malayka Erpen, global consumer segment leader for Cordura. “Our continuous evolution of end-use apparel continues to generate demand for ingredient brands to diversify possible applications in end use products. By collaborating to innovate, we can work ever more closely with brands and mill partners to maximise strengths and develop the next generation of sustainable solutions.”
Cordura re/cor
Among 2022 highlights, Cordura re/cor recycled nylon 6.6 (RN66) was launched in January – a 100% pre-consumer nylon 6.6 material that is GRS certified.
In terms of quantifiable benefits compared to virgin nylon 6.6, its production creates 83% fewer greenhouse gas emissions, uses 82% less energy and uses 57% less water.
The development received awards at the 2022 ISPO Textrends, Functional Fabric Fair and Performance Days and has been rapidly expanded into the workwear segment by German mill C.F. Weber, and into footwear with Tiong Liong Corporation (TLC).
Mystery Ranch backpacks made from Cordura re/cor RN66 are already available in 16 countries and the fabric’s European launch was with a limited edition tote bag from Bach Equipment.
Among other brand collaborations, the Sapphire Finishing Mills Limited X Cordura Advanced Fabrics capsule collection is inspired by utility silhouettes, such as workwear overalls from the Gold Rush era.
Schöffel PRO launched workpants with Cordura NaturalleFabrics and the Skidoo jacket was recreated using fully recycled Cordura re/cor RN6 as part of Napapijri’s Premium Collection.
Marking another milestone in the platform launch, Material ConneXion, a leading material insights company, has accepted a Cordura re/cor RN66 collection of ten fabrics onto its platform.
