For Autumn/Winter 2022 season collections, PrimaLoft has updated its PURE – Produced Using Reduced Emissions – renewable manufacturing technology, which it says results in carbon emissions being further reduced, now by up to 70%. 

To achieve this improvement to the process first introduced in 2019, Primaloft specialists looked carefully at materials, product design and the production process itself. The proprietary technology takes a holistic approach that perfectly matches materials, engineered recipes, equipment and energy production that work together to significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional production methods still widely used throughout the industry.

In addition to PURE, PrimaLoft has also significantly reduced carbon emissions throughout its entire product range by using recycled polyester instead of virgin fibres. Since 2015 PrimaLoft has saved an impressive total of 16 million kg of CO2.

“With PrimaLoft PURE, we prioritise each material, recipe, process and piece of equipment used, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions while maintaining our product quality and performance characteristics,” said Mike Joyce, president and CEO of PrimaLoft.

Three new PURE products – Gold, Silver and Black –are being launched in 2022 and will be available for brand partners to use in their collections from the Spring/Summer 2022 season.

Alpkit is the first UK brand to use products made with the initial version of PrimaLoft PURE, with nearly 50% reduced emissions, and will launch the Sierra insulated vest for Autumn/Winter 2021. Oher brands using PURE include early adopter Patagonia, Bergans of Norway, Kodiak and Viking.
