German textile professors visit Monfongs factory
Four specialists from one of Europe’s leading textiles educators examine Monfongs production plant.

Four professors from the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology at the Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Mönchengladbach, Germany, have visited the Monfongs Zhongshan factory during a study tour of China.
The faculty has cooperation agreements with universities in China, the US, Turkey, and in many European countries, with this visit being organised in cooperation with Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Donghua University.
The professors had travelled first to Hong Kong and then visited the Monfongs factory in Zhongshan, where Monfongs executives Leo Wong, Cody Tung and Wilson Leung met them and provided a tour of the production facilities.
Mönchengladbach faculty
One of Europe’s largest study locations for young textile engineers, the Mönchengladbach faculty has a century of history and teaches degree courses both in German and English.
The professors were dean of the faculty, Prof Dr habil.Rudolf L Voller; Vice Dean Prof Dr rer. Nat. Lutz Vossebein, whose speciality is textile technology, textile testing and quality management; Prof Dr rer. Pol. Susanne Müller, who specialises in business administration, marketing and logistics; and Prof Dr-Ing Maike Rabe, whose area of expertise is textile finishing and ecology.
Following their visit the professors thanked the Monfongs management team. “The meeting and the tour through the company were very interesting and we gained a deep insight into production technology,” said Prof Dr Rabe, speaking on behalf of the visitors.
Monforts Textilmaschinen
Monforts Textilmaschinen was founded in 1884. Today it is a member of Fong’s Industries with production facilities in St. Stefan, Austria and in Zhongshan, PRC. The headquarters of Monforts is based traditionally in Mönchengladbach, Germany, where all activities for R&D , technology, sales and service activities, spare parts marketing and teleservice are centralised.
The Monfongs Zhongshan plant predominately produces stenters. The Monforts production facility, Montex Maschinenfabrik in Austria, produces all ranges for technical textiles, continuous dyeing ranges, compressive shrinking ranges and stenters.
“A most modern technology centre in Mönchengladbach attracts many customers for fabric trials on real scale Monforts ranges for dyeing, finishing and coating under real production conditions,” the company reports. Around 950 people are employed in the administrative and production facilities in Germany, Austria and China.
