As the only conference focused exclusively on carbon fibre, it aims to provide attendees with all the latest industry knowledge and updates from senior figures across the globe. “Whatever your position in the composites supply chain, this is the event that will help you secure the information and contacts necessary to succeed and develop in this exciting sector,” organisers report.
In 2016, presenters and attendees included Boeing, Airbus, BMW, Nissan, VW, ELG, SGL, CarbConsult, STRUCTeam, Green Alliance, Imperial College London, and many more.
Pre-conference activities
This year's conference also features two exciting pre-conference activities – a site visit to BMW Group Werk Landshut and a workshop on How to build a carbon fibre line.
The site visit will give attendees a look behind the scenes of automobile manufacturing. The guided plant tour gives guests access to all automobile production technologies including light metal foundry, CFRP, cockpit and equipment, plastics exterior, electric drives and special engines.
The workshop is designed to furnish attendees with all the knowledge needed to decide if carbon fibre is for you. From precursor synthesis, through fibre production and curing, to building your line and managing the energy, materials and by-product flows, the specially selected line up of speakers have many years of combined experienced to share. The workshop will be led by John Davidson of Cygnet Texkimp with more speakers to be confirmed.
Global Outlook for Carbon Fibre conferences
Smithers Rapra's has been organising the renowned Global Outlook for Carbon Fibre conferences in both Europe and North America for over 20 years. As the only conference focused 100% on carbon fibre, the conferences provide a unique forum for carbon fibre manufacturers, composite industry executives, technologists and new entrants to receive a comprehensive update on the outlook for growth, supply and demand and recycling of carbon fibres.
Discussions at the conferences focus predominantly around end user applications, with insights from OEMs in aerospace, automotive, rail, sports equipment, marine, wind and more, alternative PAN and precursor applications, sustainable materials and methods, the role of recycling, novel approaches to composites manufacturing, new technologies for carbon fibre production, circular economy opportunities and much more.
