Directa Plus, a producer and supplier of graphene-based products for use in consumer and industrial markets, has announced that its Graphene Plus (G+) membrane and G+ printed fabrics have received international certification from Complife Italia (Complife), the independent toxicity testing organisation, confirming that they do not cause any irritation to human skin.
Complife is a specialist testing agency that assesses safety, tolerability and sensory aspects of all products that may come in contact with human skin. The company’s G+ membrane and printed fabrics were dermatologically tested by Complife, involving 48-hour patch tests on 25 individuals, and certified as ‘non-irritating’.
This complements previous tests conducted by Complife (then operating as Farcoderm) on all of Directa Plus’ graphene-based materials, which were certified as safe for human contact.
“We are pleased to have our G+ membrane and printed fabrics proven to be non-irritating to human skin. This adds to the certification we received last year that our graphene-based materials are non-toxic and non-cytotoxic,” commented Giulio Cesareo, CEO of Directa Plus.
“With our Graphene Plus textiles, our customers can truly differentiate their products as innovative, performance-enhancing and comfortable to wear. We have always prided ourselves on the safety and environmental credentials of our production processes and graphene-based products, and this new certification further represents that commitment.”
Directa Plus is one of the largest producers and suppliers of graphene-based products for use in consumer and industrial markets. Directa Plus graphene-based products are natural, chemical-free, sustainably produced and tailored to specific customer requirements for commercial applications such as smart textiles, tyres, composite materials and environmental solutions.
Established in 2005, the company has a patented technology process and a scalable and exportable manufacturing model. It produces graphene-based products at its own factory in Lomazzo, Italy, and can set up additional production at customer locations to reduce transport costs, waste and time-to-utilisation.
