As fashion brands and retailers contend with regulatory pressure to meet new sustainability and circularity standards by the 2030 EU Green Deal deadline, their design and fabric experts are actively seeking alternatives to fossil fuel-based textiles – and turning to the Future Fabrics Expo, taking place at Magazine London from 25-26 June, for solutions.

The Future Fabrics Expo, the largest dedicated showcase for sourcing certified, sustainably, and responsibly produced textiles and materials. Hyosung is proud to be one of the only fibre suppliers to exhibit at the show and will present a range of planet-friendly textile solutions across recycled and bio-based categories with its portfolio of certified sustainable regen elastane, nylon, and polyester fibres.

“Future Fabrics Expo is such a rich forum for sustainable action, and we are proud to participate as an exhibitor, to meet customers, exchange ideas and hear from other industry experts,” said Claire O’Neill, Hyosung Director of Brand Marketing – Textiles. “We feel it is important to be part of a show that is dedicated to sustainability – and as a textile solution provider – it’s a great opportunity to show the ways in which we are evolving our product portfolio that aligns with brand and retailer strategies.”

According to O’Neill, renewable fibres from alternative feedstocks are in full focus among many brands and retailers and have captured interest in Hyosung’s offering of regen BIO elastane.

Hyosung was the first company to commercialise at scale USDA and SGS certified bio-based elastane partly made with renewable resources in 2022. Brand adoptions with the fibre include activewear from Pangaia that combines a bio-nylon with Hyosung regen Bio elastane, and Icebreaker who has introduced a blend of the bio-based elastane with its signature merino wool. Others have combined regen BIO elastane with luxurious silk, lyocell, and organic cotton.

As part of its corporate ESG commitment to achieving net zero by 2050 and supporting the wider textile industry to meet evolving sustainability goals, Hyosung has partnered with sustainable materials leader, Geno, to start construction at its plant in Vietnam to produce Bio BDO derived from sugarcane, commencing Q2 2026.

Hyosung’s partnership with Geno establishes the world’s first fully integrated manufacturing site for bio-based elastane from renewable raw material to fibre. The project will fast track the production of Bio BDO with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons in the second half of 2026 – with the aim of expanding capacity up to a total of 200,000 tons/year to meet expected industry demands for bio-based elastane.

For brands and retailers more interested in recycled rather than bio-based materials, Hyosung will present fabrics and garments crafted with its certified 100% recycled regen elastane made with reclaimed waste from the manufacturing process; 100 % recycled regen Ocean nylon made from discarded fishing nets; and 100% recycled and multi-functional polyester made with post-consumer PET.

Hyosung can be found at Future Fabrics Expo stand # T8C from 25-26 June.
