Messe Frankfurt, the organiser of more than 150 global exhibitions, including Heimtextil and Techtextil, plans to report on its corporate carbon footprint (CCF) as part of a binding environmental target of achieving greenhouse gas neutrality by 2040.

CCF is a key measurement value for ecological sustainability and by tracking emissions with its partner First Climate, the event organiser will be able to regulate its own emissions. Based on the results, Messe Frankfurt’s team will further specify climate targets and develop a detailed climate strategy.

CCF is also a mandatory part of the future sustainability reporting in accordance with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) which, from 2026 onwards, will require major companies to report on their previous financial years.

“We are taking the next step towards decarbonising our company and will be calculating the greenhouse gas emissions of our international business operations on a regular basis, beginning by reporting on our performance in the past year 2023,” explains Wolfgang Marzin, president and CEO of Messe Frankfurt. “We are very lucky to have an experienced partner like First Climate to help us calculate our carbon footprint across the company, on the way to a more sustainable future for events.”
