Wet-laid industrial nonwovens specialist Technical Fibre Products and its sister company TFP Hydrogen Products are now united as the Advanced Materials division of James Cropper, alongside a unified Paper and Packaging division.

The rebranding follows a major transformation programme ahead of James Cropper’s 180th anniversary next year, including a streamlined portfolio, operational improvements and several strategic key hires.

The company, headquartered in Burneside, UK, reported sales of £102.9 million in its financial year to April 1st 2024, down from £129.6 million in the previous year, with adjusted profit before tax of $758,000, compared to £3.2 million in the previous year.

“At the outset of the year, we laid out our strategy to accelerate growth in revenue and profitability, with a six-point plan which formed the basis for the decisions and actions we have taken,” explains CEO Steve Adams in the company’s 2024 annual report. “Despite challenging conditions in the second half of the year particularly, I am pleased that we have made progress. James Cropper is now a significantly more efficient business and strongly positioned in various markets that are expected to grow in the years ahead.

“This includes the fast-growing renewable energy and decarbonisation markets which are in need of novel high-performance materials and sustainable fibres. This rebrand is an opportunity to clearly communicate our unrivalled product portfolio and technical capability. We also look forward to collaborating with new partners who share our curiosity and excitement for reinventing materials and pursuing sustainable solutions.”
