Sri Lanka-headquartered MAS Holdings, the largest apparel company in South Asia, has joined forces with Los Angeles-based Ambercycle to scale up textile-to-textile recycling.

The partnership, which centres around a three-year off-take agreement, reflects the demand among large brands and manufacturers for new streams of high-quality materials made from textile-to-textile regeneration.  

The agreement allows MAS to reserve capacity to utilise Ambercycle’s cycora circular polyester material for its customer partners and Ambercycle to further expedite efforts to reach commercial-scale production as quickly as possible.

A key MAS objective is to derive 50% of revenue from sustainable products by 2025.

Ambercycle’s cycora circular polyester is made through proprietary molecular regeneration technology and yields the same quality as virgin-grade materials, while lowering greenhouse gas emissions and reducing dependency on landfilling or incinerating end-of-life textiles. 

The company plans to establish a state-of-the-art textile regeneration facility by the end of 2025, increasing the production of cycora.
