Technical textiles specialist Arville has refitted the interiors of London’s Air Ambulance charity’s two emergency medical helicopters.

“It was apparent that the seating within the helicopters needed significant refurbishment as a result of ongoing use,” the company explains. “So, recognising Arville’s experience in manufacturing bespoke aircraft fabrics, the charity approached us for help.”

The textiles team came to their aid, donating a durable, lightweight, and fire-retardant fabric that met the stringent safety requirements for the aviation sector.

“We recognise the tremendous life-saving treatment this charity delivers to the 10 million people who live, work and travel within the M25. So, when they came to us to ask for help, we were only too happy to donate the fabric they required,” commented Arville’s spokesman Andy Smith.

With extensive experience producing technical textiles for the aerospace industry, Arville responded to the request quickly, providing the fabric in a matter of days. The material was then fitted by the charity’s own team.

London’s Air Ambulance treats on average five critically injured people in London every day. But facing costs of £8.7 million a year to keep the helicopters in the air each day, the charity relies heavily on donations to provide this much-needed service for the capital.

“On behalf of London’s Air Ambulance, I am tremendously grateful for Arville’s generous offer to supply the material for the cabin seats, free of charge. This help and assistance is hugely appreciated,” said Keith Boxall, compliance monitoring manager for London’s Air Ambulance.
