Polyvlies Franz Beyer, a German producer of technical nonwovens, has been presented with an award from Johnson Controls, a leader in automotive interiors.

A total of 14 suppliers to the interiors business were recognised for outstanding achievements with a Performance Award and/or Leadership Award at the annual European Supplier Awards last week in Dusseldorf.

“We are proud to once again recognise the interiors supply base for outstanding achievement,” said James Bos, Vice President Purchasing at Johnson Controls Automotive Interiors. “Our suppliers play a vital role in our success.”

Excellent performance

The German company Polyvlies Franz Beyer received the award for the expansion of its production facilities and excellent performance in research and development which enabled the company to be globally competitive.

The company develops, produces and finishes technical nonwovens made out of synthetic, natural and/or mineral fibres. For Johnson it produces mainly natural fibre and acoustic nonwovens. In addition to the Silver Supplier Performance Award Polyvlies received the Leadership Award in the Global Growth category.

Criteria for the Leadership Award included factors like sustainability, innovation, optimal quality, customer satisfaction, global growth and continuous performance improvement.

Johnson Controls awards

The awards are based on quality, cost, logistics, development, technology and service. Depending on the total points earned, Johnson Controls honours suppliers with a Gold, Silver or Bronze Supplier Performance Award.

Twelve companies who provide injection-moulded parts, plastics and resins, chemicals, foam, fabric and leather cutting, natural fibres and metal parts received the Supplier Performance Award this year.

Three Johnson Controls suppliers received the Gold Performance Award: Polydesign Systems from Canada, which produces leather and PVC components, Basell Deutschland, a specialist in chemicals and plastics, and Taiwanese supplier Macauto Industrial, a manufacturer of sun visors and tonneau covers.
