This is the third consecutive year for Invista to support high-performing SCUT chemical engineering undergraduate and graduate students in becoming the next generation of chemical industry professionals.

With leading brands including Lycra, Coolmax, Cordura, Stainmaster and Antron, Invista is one of the largest integrated producers of chemical intermediates, polymers and fibres. The company’s advantaged technologies for nylon, spandex and polyester are used to produce clothing, carpet, car parts and countless other everyday products. Headquartered in the US, the company operates in more than 20 countries.

Creating long-term value

“We appreciate the opportunity to share with the students one very important element in our corporate MBM culture, that is, to create long-term real value for the society by protecting the environment and the safety and health of workers and the communities in which we operate; using resources more efficiently; and consistently applying sound science,” said Gary Knight, global operations vice president, Invista Apparel & Advanced Textiles, in his speech at the ceremony. “We believe these concepts are also crucial to future practitioners in the chemical industry.”

At the subsequent Invista talent development forum, Joanna Jin, human resources director, Invista Apparel & Advanced Textiles, Asia Pacific, and Choon Hueei Beck, Invista’s Foshan apparel plant manager, shared the ten guiding principles of Invista’s corporate MBM culture. Jammy Li, a SCUT alumni, shared his experiences in growing from a management trainee to an asset availability leader in Invista.
