UK home furnishings retailer Terrys has announced a huge surge in demand throughout recent national lockdowns that have pushed its revenues up by 109% over the last 12 months.
The family run business, which has a store in Staffordshire and an ecommerce site which serves customers across the UK, specialises in homewares and textiles including curtains, blinds, and soft furnishings.
In a year where so many industries have suffered, the homes and gardens sector has flourished, with searches for blackout curtains, for example, up 47% and roman blinds up 49% compared to this time last year.
“It’s been a really challenging year for many industries, but we are really delighted to have seen a continued demand for home furnishings during this time,” said managing director Paul McGuiness “The past twelve months has seen many people investing in their homes, and this is a trend that we anticipate will continue throughout the coming months.”
The retailer has secured several brand wins in 2021 to date, bolstering its already extensive range with the addition of popular homeware collections from Emma Shipley, Cath Kidston and Tess Daly.
In a first for the retailer in its over 50 years of trading, Terrys has also recently launched an exclusive collection with renowned designer Orla Kiely, furthering its position as a market leader within the sector.
“We have ambitious plans for expanding our offering to not only include some of the UK’s most popular and much-loved designer collections, but also a range of collections that will be exclusive to Terrys,” said marketing and creative director Gareth Coxall.
The made to measure arm of the retailer’s business has been going from strength to strength and it is now stocking over 3,500 fabric variations for both made to measure blinds and curtains.
Terrys believes it is set for another strong year, with plans to become the UK’s largest supplier of Day and Night blinds and the launch of an exclusive homeware collection with one of interior design’s biggest names to be announced shortly.
