ISKO, a Turkish fabric producer, supported IED’s students in the creation of EcoEgo, a sustainable collection realised under the mentorship of Tiziano Guardini and unveiled during Pitti Uomo 94 in Florence, this month.
Palazzo Davanzati and its decorated first floor rooms hosted EcoEgo, a collection gathering ten garments designed by IED’s students from eight of the Institute’s seats (Milan, Rome, Turin, Florence, Cagliari, Venice, Como and Barcelona). This was in addition to eight outfits designed by Tiziano Guardini, Ecodesigner winner of the Franca Sozzani GCC Award for Best Emerging Designer.
The idea of the eco-project, realised using unique components, was originally conceived in January 2018 when Livia Firth, Founder and Creative Director of EcoAge, and Tiziano Guardini met the students in a workshop organised to guide them in the development of a sustainable collection.
ISKO, as well as many other international companies, supported the initiative by giving a profound insight into its know-how, as well as denim fabrics, later used to realise the garments. Too much essential is the capsule collection made entirely in ISKO fabrics by a group of students and inspired by the company’s vision towards responsible innovation.
The exhibition, which marked the end of EcoEgo’s journey, was opened from 12-17 June at Palazzo Davanzati, in Florence. The Italian National Chamber of Fashion that promoted the initiative also selected the collection for the Milano Moda Graduate event that took place in Milan on 15 June.
ISKO is the only denim mill to have been awarded both the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and the EU Ecolabel. Based in Turkey, the company has a production capacity of 250 million metres of fabric per year with 1,700 high-tech automated looms.
ISKO has a global presence, with offices in 35 countries, and is part of Sanko Tekstil, the textiles division of the Sanko Group. The Sanko Group is one of the largest conglomerates in Turkey, active in a wide range of sectors from construction and energy, to packaging, financial services, health care and education.
