Industrial and business consulting company AMAC has announced a cooperation with the Institute for Textile Technology, (ITA) at RWTH Aachen University to strengthen and accelerate the opportunities for new textile-based developments in composites.

As one of the largest institutes on the campus of RWTH Aachen, ITA develops complete solutions, from the manufacturing of fibres to the processing of textile intermediates with thermoplastic and thermoset resins and textile-based parts manufacturing, based on technologies such as braiding, pultrusion and the in-situ impregnation of textile preforms.

It is focused on the transportation industry and particularly the e-mobility sector, as well as building and construction and wind energy.

“Our long-term experience and unmatched know-how with all aspects of continuous fibres, nonwovens and web-based reinforcements allows us to deliver a complete technology and service offer to composite manufacturers,” explained ITA director Thomas Gries. “In all process steps of our research and development we focus on sustainable and recyclable solutions, an efficient cost-performance ratio, the possible use of bio-based materials and the reduction of CO2 footprint. We are glad to cooperate with Michael Effing and AMAC in order to benefit from his door-opening network in the composites industry.”

Michael Effing, managing director of AMAC, also serves as chairman of the board of the trade associations Composites Germany and AVK.

“I am very happy to support the ITA to generate innovation via further industrial networking and pre-competitive joint projects,” he said. “ITA is indeed a one-stop source for composite solutions from the fibre to the cost-efficient manufacturing of final parts. In the context of the Covid-19 impact on the entire industry, it makes sense to join forces. Furthermore, ITA, with 250 different technologies at is machine-park in Aachen offers further valuable networking opportunities to the composites industry as well as access to relevant complementary fibre-based excellence.”
