For the second consecutive year, ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers), in partnership with the Italian Trade Agency, has organised a collective venture at Irantex, the primary trade fair for the Iranian textile and textile machinery sector, which will be held in Tehran from 4-7 September 2017.
Last year, the trade fair was attended by a good number of Italian manufacturers, and this year’s edition will be marked by the participation of 24 machinery producers. Of these, the following ACIMIT associated members will take part: A.Piovan, Caipo, Cognetex, Comez, Corino, Cormatex, Cps Tex, Fadis, Ferraro, Fk Group, Guarnieri Technology, Itema, Laip, Lgl, Pentek, Ramina, Reggiani Macchine, Santex Group, Smit, Stalam, Tecnorama, Textape, Unitech.
“Thanks to its textile vocation, Iran has always represented an important market for Italy’s textile machinery industry. The global tensions of the past few years have slowed down trade and commerce, but the ongoing relaxation process is opening up very interesting business prospects for our companies,” commented ACIMIT president Alex Zucchi.
The validation of this new phase can be found in the statistics of Italian sales in Iran, the association reports. For the first three months of 2017, Italian exports to this specific market amounted to EUR 12 million, whereas during the same period in 2016 sales had reached only slightly under EUR 2 million. “It shouldn’t be difficult, therefore, for Italian exports to outperform 2016, for which total sales amounted to EUR 16 million,” the association says.
ACIMIT represents an industrial sector comprising around 300 manufacturers employing close to 12,000 people and producing machinery for an overall value of about EUR 2.7 billion, with exports amounting to more than 85% of total sales.
