Membrane specialist eVent fabrics has announced that K2 Apparel is its newest partner in the snow sports business. The longstanding winter sports brand is launching its new apparel line for Winter 2017-18 under the direction of industry veteran Bill Post. K2 Apparel will make its worldwide debut at the SIA Snow Show, which will be held from 26-29 January 2017 in Denver, CO.

“We are very excited to launch K2 Apparel and partner with eVent fabrics because eVent technology best suits the needs of outdoor enthusiasts,” said Bill Post.

“Since our products are geared to active winter athletes, we feel that breathability is key to overall comfort. We found that eVent’s balance of enhanced breathability and superior waterproofness is the ideal combination to ensure that winter athletes stay comfortable in the most demanding conditions.”

New products

According to Post, eVent fabrics will be featured in pinnacle products in K2 Apparel’s Freeride collection, which includes three styles each of jackets and pants for men and women, all named after stormy weather situations. All feature a rugged 3-layer nylon fabric with a water column rating of 20 metres for 100% waterproof protection. Exceptional breathability, combined with air permeability, measures 26,000 grams/m2/24 hours, according to the manufacturer.

The new K2 Apparel products feature eVent DValpine technology, which is eVent’s solution that is designed to balance all-weather protection and high breathability for a broad range of activities. According to the company, DValpine is air permeable, fully waterproof and extremely effective at blocking the wind.  At the heart of DValpine technology is eVent’s patented ePTFE Direct Venting membrane, which has a porous structure that allows body heat and moisture to instantly escape from inside the garment.

“What sets eVent apart is air permeability,” said Chad Kelly, Director of Sales and Product Line for eVent fabrics. “K2 recognises that our technology delivers best-in-class breathability, which in turn translates to comfort. We’re thrilled to join K2 Apparel and let skiers in on the secret that eVent really feels and performs differently than traditional waterproof fabrics.”

eVent membrane technology

The technology used to create eVent membranes was invented in the 1990s to improve the pollutant-capturing performance of air filtration systems and give superior protection to industrial machinery.

eVent fabrics, found in outdoor, winter sports, cycling and professional apparel and footwear, are air permeable and waterproof performance fabrics that let the sweat out through Direct Venting technology.
