Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH, Obertshausen, has signed a contract to take over the Weaving Preparation Division of Benninger AG in Uzwil. In future, it will operate under the name of Karl Mayer Textilmaschinen AG. With this strategic acquisition, Karl Mayer takes over Benninger’s current product portfolio, together with the service and components operations, which will remain in Uzwil.

The merger sees the emergence of a leading international company offering an extensive range of products for weaving preparation equipment and machinery. None of Benninger’s other business operations are affected by the takeover. The merger of the two companies is the result of constructive discussions that have taken place over the last few weeks. Both Karl Mayer and Benninger are convinced that this is the best solution all round.

The move also makes an effective contribution to maintaining the strong position of textile machine technology in Europe. “We see the merger of these companies both of which are highly experienced in the field of warp preparation, as an important step in guaranteeing a successful future in the long term, even in these challenging economic times.” , a spokesperson for Karl Mayer said.

Karl Mayer will continue to produce machines for the Weaving Preparation Division in Uzwil and after the takeover, 110 employees will join the Weaving Preparation Division of Karl Mayer. Benninger’s current management team will strongly support the integration of all activities into the Karl Mayer Group. Karl Mayer aims to consolidate its worldwide service network by taking on Benninger’s service personnel, who will continue to provide technical support for Benninger’s installed machines.
