Viscose speciality fibre manufacturer Kelheim Fibres has entered into a collaboration with MagnoLab, a network of textile companies based in the Biella region of Italy.
Set up in 2022, MagnoLab unites DBT Fibre, De Martini, Marchi & Fildi, Filidea, Di.Vè, Pinter Caipo, Maglificio Maggia and Tintoria Finissaggio 2000 who are working together on sustainable new materials and processes exploiting their complementary roles along the production chain
The new partnership highlights the importance of collaboration between different companies to drive innovation and sustainability in the textile industry.
“Kelheim sees itself as a pioneer in the development of sustainable viscose fibres, not only as a fibre supplier but also as an innovation partner for the entire industry,” said Dr Marina Crnoja-Cosic, director of new business development, marketing and communications at Kelheim. “Through close networking with the companies organised under MagnoLab, we can produce small quantities of samples and prototypes using various technologies. This enables us to develop solutions based on our speciality fibres that can be directly transferred to the production facilities of our partners within the textile value chain.”
“Kelheim Fibres is the first fibre manufacturer we are collaborating with,” added Giovanni Marchi, president of MagnoLab. “Together, we now cover the complete textile chain, making our work even more valuable.”
In addition to allowing for practical testing and accelerating the implementation of innovation, the collaboration will also contribute to a closer networking of the regional value chain within Europe, enabling shorter transport routes.
