Axel’One, the collaborative innovation platform which hosts and supports collaborative R&D in the Lyon region of France, has announced the new €4.2 million DEFIMOF project, which is aiming to develop a network for the production and shaping of metal organic frameworks (MOFs).
Axel’One will be joined by Fibroline, Condorchem Envitech France, MOFapps, Qarnot, Saint-Gobain and the Lyon Institute for Research on Catalysis and the Environment (CNRS-IRCELYON), in the project.
MOFs are materials with exceptional properties and numerous applications, for which there is as yet no industrial sector, but France has all the skills to develop one, the project partners believe.
DEFIMOF is bringing together players across the value chain to develop synthesis processes optimised for industrial feasibility at lower cost as well as new processes for shaping MOFs adapted to specofic applications.
The four-year project will demonstrate the relevance of the use of MOFS for applications primarily for filtration, including metal remediation in water treatment and odour neutralisation in air filtration, as well as waste heat recovery.
The DEFIMOF project is being financed by Bpifrance as part of the call for projects of the France 2030 plan and is supported by the Axelera competitiveness cluster.
