Alchemie Technology was named the UK’s most sustainable business at the 2024 British Business Awards, in a ceremony held in London earlier this month.
The awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of British small and medium-sized businesses and a record-breaking 750+ entries were made for this year’s finalists and 188 companies were nominated. In total, there were 15 categories showcasing the impressive entrepreneurial talent across Britain.
The Sustainable Business Award of the Year, sponsored by Smart Energy GB, recognised Alchemie’s efforts in transforming the textile industry through sustainable practices.
“We are thrilled to award Alchemie Technology the Sustainable Business Award of the Year,” said entrepreneur Oli Barrett, compere of the ceremony. “In an incredibly competitive field of nominees, Alchemie stood out for its unwavering commitment to sustainability and its groundbreaking innovations that are reshaping the future of the textile industry. The company’s ability to combine visionary technology with a tangible real-world impact sets it apart, demonstrating how businesses can lead the way in addressing global environmental challenges. Alchemie’s dedication to reducing chemical waste, combating water pollution and creating a more sustainable world of textile dyeing is truly inspiring.”
Alchemie has developed low-carbon, digital textile dyeing technologies that reduce energy consumption by up to 85% and wastewater by up to 95%.
“We are honoured and humbled, considering the record-breaking number of entries this year, to have won this award,” said Alchemie product manager Lewis Ford. “This award not only reflects the hard work and dedication our staff show to make achievements like this possible, but also enhances the credibility of our technologies, in our mission to eliminate the environmental impact of the textile dyeing industry’s polluting processes. We are thrilled to be recognised alongside so many other fantastic businesses that inspire and drive innovation across the SME sector.”
