Suominen, the leading supplier of nonwovens, has announced the launch of Hydraspun Dispersible Plus, a new range of flushable substrates for the global wipes market.
The new Hydraspun Dispersible Plus substrates break up over three times faster than the standard Hydraspun Dispersible and pass the INDA/EDANA 3rd edition flushability assessment test protocol, the company reports.
Innovative solution
Suominen invented the first commercial flushable product in the late 1990s, with an aim to provide consumers with a suitable replacement to non-flushable materials, like paper towels and baby wipes, which are commonly flushed by the consumer.
Since then the company continues to upgrade its flushable range of products. Suominen has already filed a patent for the new range of products.
“It is wonderful to bring to the global wipes market an innovation, which is the result of understanding the consumer needs, listening to our customers, as well as, considering the expectations of the municipal wastewater systems,” commented Kyra Dorsey, PhD, Product Manager.
Suominen
Suominen manufactures nonwovens as roll goods for wipes as well as for medical and hygiene products. The end products made of Suominen’s nonwovens include wet wipes, feminine care products and swabs, for instance.
Suominen is the market leader in nonwovens for wipes and employs approximately 600 people in Europe and in the Americas. Suominen’s net sales in 2013 amounted to EUR 373.7 million.
