Welspun Living has formed a strategic partnership with Avgol Industries to introduce biodegradable polyolefin wipes to the consumer market.

Avgol is a global leader in high-performance spunmelt nonwoven fabrics and part of the Indorama Ventures Group. Indorama is an exclusive partner of Polymateria, a UK technology company developing biodegradable plastic alternatives.

By breaking down into organic materials in the open environment, Avgol wipes incorporating Polymateria’s Biotransformation Technology address end-of-life challenges in plastics waste management.

“By partnering with Avgol, we are setting a new standard in delivering environmentally conscious solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global consumers,” said Keyur Parekh, Welspun Living CEO.

“This collaboration brings a unique technology to market that we’ve been developing for two years,” added Avgol CEO Sivan Yedidsion. “We’re confident that our joint efforts will foster more innovative and sustainable product ideas. This initiative is part of Avgol’s broader strategy to diversify its product offerings in the wipes market.

“This partnership represents a significant leap in addressing end-of-life challenges for nonwovens, demonstrating how cutting-edge science can provide real-world environmental solutions while creating more sustainable products,” said Polymateria India CEO Richard Horne. “Our joint commitment and dedication over the last few years marks a dramatic step toward Polymateria’s goal of addressing, a 100 million ton per annum waste challenge with our strategic partners.”
