Denim jeans surface finishing specialist Jeanologia, in partnership with Cone Denim, will introduce the Road to Mission Zero collection of denims created via the selection of sustainable options from fabric to finish at the latest Kingspins 24 online show from April 20-22.
“We are on a mission to eliminate 100% of the waste generated in denim jeans production by 2025 – from the fabric to the final garment,” said Enrique Silla, CEO of Jeanologia, which is headquartered in Valancia, Spain. “We believe Mission Zero is possible and necessary and it is important to immediately bring together the efforts of all those involved to change denim production processes.”
“We are excited to partner with Jeanologia as we focus on building a sustainable future and minimising our impact on natural resources,” added Steve Maggard, Cone Denim president. “One area of particular focus for us is water conservation, which is perfectly aligned to the Mission Zero goal. Cone currently uses Jeanologia’s G2 Ozone finishing ranges, lasers and Bluescan machinery. Additionally, we are in the process of installing a Zero Liquid Discharge wastewater treatment system at our mill in Northern Mexico. These investments will enable us to make significant advances towards Cone’s 2025 water usage reduction goal.”
The Flash Finish fabrics of Cone, headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, are produced on G2 Dynamic ozone finishing ranges and highly light-sensitive in their reaction to this treatment. As such, they represent an eco-efficient alternative to some of the most water-intensive and polluting fabric finishing processes.
The collection has been developed to showcase a full range of sustainable finishes with a wide scale of wash levels and highs and lows created with atmospheric finishing, while keeping the authenticity of the traditional stone washed look.
