Toyoda Gosei, headquartered in Kiyosu, Japan, has established a new airbag manufacturing plant in Mexico in response to current high demand.

The Monterrey Plant of Tapex Mexicana in Matamoros is 100% owned by Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation and began production in March.

This is the automotive supplier’s sixth plant in Mexico and will add annual airbag production capacity of approximately eight million units.

The company’s airbags are primarily manufactured in Mexico and Vietnam for cost competitiveness and Toyoda Gosei intends to further increase its global capacity from 60 million to 100 million by 2023.
